Our Muse
The Story of Museion
The Hernandez Family
The Hernández family’s journey in Napa Valley began when Jorge Sr. and Ana Hernández fell in love. Overlooking the vineyard that would one day produce the grapes for their children’s Sauvignon Blanc, Jorge proposed to Ana, a student at the Culinary Institute.
Years passed, and after raising five children, the couple returned to Napa Valley in the summer of 2010. It was during this visit that they decided this magical summer should never end. They chose to move their family to this historic wine-growing region, settling in the hills overlooking the very spot where their love story began in the idyllic town of St. Helena. As Ana fondly recalls, it was "the summer that never came to an end."
By 2020, the Hernández family discovered a unique property in the heart of Calistoga, just minutes from where they had planted their roots. In the wake of the devastating wildfires that had recently swept through the valley, they decided to take a significant step to solidify their presence in the region. They transformed a large water production facility, along with an adjacent winery, into a wine production facility. This marked the birth of Museion.
The Story of Museion
Museion was born from a deep-rooted love for the craft of winemaking, the land, and its bounty. Our journey began with a vision shared during a father-son walk through the heart of our Calistoga property. As Jorge Hernández explained his dreams for the estate—to host the finest winemakers, produce exceptional wines, offer exquisite cuisine, and grow into one of Napa Valley’s premier multi-experiential destinations—his son, Pedro Pablo, was inspired. He exclaimed, “Like the Museion of ancient Alexandria!” And so, the name was chosen.
Much like its namesake from the classical world, Museion is more than just a winery; it is a sanctuary where art, beauty, and creativity flourish. Here, the muses inspire both winemakers and guests alike. There is always something new to learn, always a way to highlight the intricate beauty winemaking.
As a family-owned and operated estate, we are dedicated not only to the production of exceptional wines but also to fostering a community where passion, creativity, and hospitality are at the forefront. We are a grape-to-bottle winery, offering a state-of-the-art custom crush home for both seasoned and up-and-coming winemakers. At Museion, we believe that great winemaking begins with a love for the craft and grows through our unwavering commitment to our team, our community, and our guests.
Marcela & Jorge Hernandez
Marcela & Jorge Hernandez: The Visionaries Behind Museion.
Today, two of the Hernández children, Jorge Jr. and Marcela Hernández, proudly carry on their parents' legacy as the owners and operators of the Museion wine facility. As the faces of the operation, Jorge Jr. and Marcela work side by side, combining their unique strengths and shared vision to lead the business. From overseeing production to nurturing relationships within the Napa Valley community, they are deeply involved in every aspect of Museion. Together, they honor their family's heritage while propelling Museion forward as a beacon of quality, creativity, and passion in the world of wine.
THE MUSES
Museion, meaning “temple of the Muses,” was born from the Hernandez family’s desire to blend wine with art, culture, and history. Guided by the Greek myth of the nine Muses, each wine at Museion is inspired by a Muse, from Clio to Terpsichore. Now that we have our growing pantheon, we can finally build them a home.
